If your claim is awarded, GENEX will work with you to tie up loose ends and let you know when you should expect to receive payment, including retroactive payments. It is important to note that how much you receive is determined by a formula that considers your former earnings subjected to FICA taxes.
After you have been awarded, your representative will help monitor your benefits or help if you any other difficulties may arrise. Additionally, your fee agreement will call for you to pay 25 percent of your back benefits (up to a certain maximum amount, currently $6,000) to your representative. However, if you have been referred to GENEX by your long term disability carrier (such as UNUM) any representation fees will be paid by them.
